On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Village, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Canton. While losing is never fun, Village can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Canton is ranked 65th).
Village lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shaniya Williams, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Williams scored a full 38.5% of Village's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Rossini, who scored 17 points.
Village's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Canton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.
Village will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Stephenville at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. Canton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Madisonville at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
