Letchworth fell victim to Pavilion and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-0 to the Golden Gophers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caledonia-Mumford). They blew past Warsaw 12-0 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Tyler Potter was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Caledonia-Mumford is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Potter was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Boop, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Metzger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Caledonia-Mumford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Letchworth's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Caledonia-Mumford, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.
Letchworth took their win against Caledonia-Mumford when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Legends since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
