Volleyball Recap: Maryvale's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins dating back to last season, Maryvale's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Red Mountain Mountain Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since March 28, 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-10, 25-14.

Justin Gaxiola paced Maryvale's offense, picking up four kills. Gaxiola got some help from Fernando Vega and his three assists.

Maryvale's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Red Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Maryvale and Mesa will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on March 20th. Red Mountain will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Desert Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on March 20th.
