San Diego is 2-8 against Canyon Hills since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The San Diego Cavers will look to defend their home field against the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 3:30 p.m. San Diego will be strutting in after a win while Canyon Hills will be coming in after a loss.
San Diego's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Hoover. The Cavers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Myah Rickman was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Alyssa Miranda-Wallace and Amanda Villarreal did most of the damage at the plate: Miranda-Wallace went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Villarreal went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Villarreal a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Diana Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
San Diego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .889. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Canyon Hills' offense. They came up short against Bonita Vista on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The loss was the Rattlers' first of the season.
San Diego now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Canyon Hills, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
San Diego's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. San Diego has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canyon Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will San Diego continue to outrun the ball?
San Diego came up short against Canyon Hills in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 10-7. Can San Diego avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
