There's no place like home for the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 53-46 win over Oakland-Craig on Thursday. This was payback for Clarkson/Leigh, who suffered a 60-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Chloe Hanel, who scored 25 points along with eight steals and five assists. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Settje, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailey Pelan, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Adi Rennerfeldt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Clarkson/Leigh pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Oakland-Craig, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.
Clarkson/Leigh will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakland-Craig, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Archbishop Bergan is ranked 64th, while the Knights are ranked 48th).
