Baseball Recap: Navarre Comes Up Short

If Navarre was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Pensacola last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Navarre Raiders took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Walton Beach Vikings on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Jacob McDonald was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Navarre is 2-1 when McDonald posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Navarre's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fort Walton Beach, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7.

Coming up, Navarre will host Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Breeze's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Navarre's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will venture away from home to square off against Tate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
