The David City Scouts fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Central City Bison on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 52-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for David City in their matchups with Central City: they've now lost five in a row.
David City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brock Dubbs, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cameron Hlavac, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Jakob Ruhl went supernova for Central City, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruhl has scored all season. Colter Lueders was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
David City's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Central City, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
David City will head out on the road to square off against Thayer Central on Saturday. Thayer Central is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Central City, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Paul at 7:45 p.m. on January 26th. St. Paul is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
