In what's become a running theme this season, the Edgewood Academy Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-22 victory over Evangel Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Edgewood Academy has posted since December 8, 2023.
Edgewood Academy was led to victory by Madison Martin and Lindsey Brown. Martin scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Brown scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Edgewood Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Avery White, who scored seven points along with three steals.
The win (which was Edgewood Academy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-3. As for Evangel Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Autauga Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Autauga Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Edgewood Academy is ranked 62nd). As for Evangel Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
