The Jarrell Cougars waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lampasas 60-57. Given Jarrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Lampasas is ranked 837th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jarrell found their leader in underclassman Aniya Taylor, who scored 20 points. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamyre' Fitch, who scored 12 points.
Jarrell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-11 record this season. As for Lampasas, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-23.
Jarrell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lampasas also has no future games currently scheduled.
