The Eula Pirates put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Abilene Christian by a score of 51-39. Given Eula's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Abilene Christian is ranked 1073rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Abilene Christian had strong showings from Bryinn Waggoner, who scored 14 points, and Carson Schwiethale, who scored 14 points. Schwiethale scored a full 35.9% of Abilene Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Eula's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Abilene Christian, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 4-9.
Eula will take on Bovina at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bovina comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Abilene Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Highland at 9:30 a.m. on December 7th.
