D.H. Conley has won eight straight games at home, while Wakefield has won eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Vikings will host the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (D.H. Conley 1.9, Wakefield 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, D.H. Conley needed a bit of extra time to put away New Bern. They skirted past the Bears 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.

Kendall Howard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 21 over nine innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gaddis, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Wakefield won against Heritage on Monday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wolverines never let Knightdale get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Like D.H. Conley, Wakefield also got a great game from a two-way player: Aniela Piscorik. Throwing, Piscorik tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kensley Harrison pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Piscorik went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Harrison earned one RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Brianna Riehle was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Lampman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wakefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive games.
Wakefield's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for D.H. Conley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
D.H. Conley couldn't quite get it done against Wakefield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
