The Idabel Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Eufaula 49-13 at home. Considering Idabel has won eight contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Idabel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Waylon Phillips, who threw for 158 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Matrail Lopez, who picked up 66 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, Eufaula had strong showings from Peter Lee, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown, and Ledger Folsom, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Idabel's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.22 points. As for Eufaula, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Idabel will take on Henryetta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Henryetta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Idabel likes a good challenge. As for Eufaula, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vian at 7:00 p.m.
