Jagger Scott was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Southern Christian is 5-2 when Scott posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jedd Scott, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass made easy work of Southern Christian on Saturday and carried off a 17-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Kings in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Owen Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Crisler, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Brayden Treadaway was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Wiregrass always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Southern Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Wiregrass, their record now sits at 5-7.
Southern Christian might still be hurting after the 17-6 defeat they got from Wiregrass in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
