Goshen Central is a perfect 9-0 against Monticello since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Gladiators are taking a road trip to square off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Goshen Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Goshen Central will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Minisink Valley, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Gladiators blew past the Warriors 8-1 on Thursday. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Addison Freiberger made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Marley Northrup was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Gomulka, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Goshen Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Minisink Valley hit Monticello with a five-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 13-1 to the Warriors. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Goshen Central, their record is now 8-3.
Monticello's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Goshen Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. It's a different story for Monticello, though, as they've only averaged .061. Will they be able to contain Goshen Central's hitters?
Everything went Goshen Central's way against Monticello in their previous meeting back in April, as Goshen Central made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
