Softball Recap: Virgin Valley Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Virgin Valley won the last time they faced Western and things went their way on Thursday too. Virgin Valley was the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over Western. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Julia Leavitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leavitt was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Davie Slack, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Raylynn Woods, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Virgin Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Virgin Valley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. Western's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Virgin Valley will challenge Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Democracy Prep Agassi Campus has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.86 runs per game on average), something Virgin Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Western, they will face off against Cheyenne at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
