Baseball Recap: Simpson Academy Extends Winning Streak to Six

Simpson Academy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Leake Academy Rebels. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Brayden Allen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Barrett McKenney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gage Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Simpson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Simpson Academy pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Leake Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

Simpson Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Leake Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
