Baseball Recap: Hersey Has No Trouble Against Buffalo Grove

While Hersey put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Buffalo Grove. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Bison. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Keegan Luxem made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brady Klehr was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Sokan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Hersey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Hersey's record now sits at 19-5-1. As for Buffalo Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hersey will host Schaumburg at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Huskies' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Saxons have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Buffalo Grove, they will welcome Hoffman Estates at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
