The Animo De La Hoya Boxers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-23 loss at the hands of Stern. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Animo De La Hoya has suffered since November 15, 2023.
Stern was led to victory by David Garcia and Mark Bautista. Garcia scored 21 points along with nine rebounds, while Bautista scored 30 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bautista has scored at least a third of Stern's points. Another player making a difference was Vince Villanueva, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Animo De La Hoya has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Stern, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home.
Animo De La Hoya will take on The School of Los Angeles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Stern won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Alliance Bloomfield at 3:30 p.m. on January 25th.
