Chapin is 10-0 against the Tigers since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chapin Huskies will look to defend their home court against the El Paso Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Chapin ultimately got the result they hoped for. They slipped by Canutillo 31-30. The win was just what Chapin needed coming off of a 65-21 loss in their prior match.
Chapin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ja'Zaya Valadez-Hernandez, who scored six points along with seven steals. Samantha Wise was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, El Paso came up short against the Mustangs on Tuesday and fell 47-36. While losing is never fun, El Paso can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 567th, while the Mustangs are ranked 149th).
Chapin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-17 record this season. As for El Paso, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.
Chapin didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win. Does Chapin have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
