Baseball Recap: Polytech Has No Trouble Against Wilmington Friends

Polytech won the last time they faced Wilmington Friends and things went their way on Saturday too. Polytech was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Wilmington Friends.

Ryan Zimmerman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Zimmerman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other pitching news, Deacon Herring looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Balcerak, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. William Harvey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Polytech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmington Friends only posted an OBP of .333.

Polytech now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wilmington Friends, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polytech will face off against Sussex Central at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilmington Friends, they will square off against Dickinson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
