The Van Buren Vee Bees pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norman Thomas. Van Buren has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Norman Thomas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Chazulle led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds. Chazulle has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hernandez, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Van Buren's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for Norman Thomas, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Van Buren will challenge Metropolitan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metropolitan is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Norman Thomas' road trip will continue as they head out to face Martin Luther King Jr Educational Campus at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th.
