Even though the Valle Catholic Warriors have not done well against the Ste. Genevieve Dragons recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Valle Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over Ste. Genevieve. This was payback for Valle Catholic, who suffered a 56-37 loss the last time these two teams met.
When it comes to explaining why Ste. Genevieve lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bri Abt. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Warren, who scored 9 points.
The win got Valle Catholic back to even at 1-1. As for Ste. Genevieve, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valle Catholic will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Festus at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for Ste. Genevieve, they will challenge Seckman at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
