Mesa hasn't had much luck against Red Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits will head out to face off against the Mountain Lions at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mesa not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th. They were the clear victors by a 26-13 margin over Dobson.
The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Isom, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Alcala, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Mesa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Red Mountain made easy work of Dobson on Monday and carried off a 20-2 win. The Mountain Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.
Saige Peters was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Ftizpatrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
Mesa's record is now 3-9. As for Red Mountain, their record now sits at 13-4-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mesa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Red Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .394. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mesa might still be hurting after the 25-0 loss they got from Red Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Jackrabbits avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
