The Carlinville Cavaliers posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 48-15 victory over Mt. Olive. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-2.
Carlinville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dom Alepra led the charge by scoring 15 points. Camden Naugle was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mt. Olive struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carlinville pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Carlinville's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Mt. Olive, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Carlinville's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Mac at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Mt. Olive, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Gillespie at 4:30 p.m. Gillespie has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
