The Northeastern Knights stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Hagerstown on the road to the tune of 70-32. Given Northeastern's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Tigers are ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northeastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Scarrette, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Scarrette hasn't dropped below 20 points for four straight games. Dae Lundy was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Isaac Schmitz and Landon Lawson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Schmitz scored eight points, while Lawson scored five points along with nine rebounds. Lawson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.
Even though they lost, Hagerstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeastern only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Northeastern is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Hagerstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeastern will take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hagerstown, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
