After losing to Kearny Christian Academy the last time they met, the Harmony Christian Hawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Harmony Christian pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over Kearny Christian Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harmony Christian.
Harmony Christian was led to victory by Edric Boateng and Benjamin Minton. Boateng scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, while Minton dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Minton has scored at least 25% of Harmony Christian's points. Jay Seward was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Kearny Christian Academy lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being David Manzo, who scored 16 points. Manzo scored a full 30.8% of Kearny Christian Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Garcia, who scored 13 points.
Harmony Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Kearny Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Harmony Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Abundant Life Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Abundant Life Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Kearny Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinity Christian at 5:15 p.m. on January 26th.
