The Overton Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Loomis Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Overton's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
On Friday, Overton beat Cambridge 33-24.
Eli Luther continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 50 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 111 yards and one TD.
Overton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dawsen McCarter and Luther.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last contest, Loomis made sure to put some points up on the board against Bertrand on Friday. The Wolves took their game with ease, bagging a 60-28 win over the Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.
Overton better keep an eye on Jace Schukar. He was instrumental in Loomis' win, rushing for 251 yards and five scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Schukar has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Tyson Freeman did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards.
Loomis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 350 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Overton's record now sits at 5-2. As for Loomis, their record is now an identical 5-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Overton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Loomis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 225.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Overton couldn't quite finish off Loomis in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 28-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Schukar, who rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Now that the Eagles know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
