Big 8 recap October 22, 2013
Lamar took down East Newton 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Tigers led Big 8 in scoring this week by notching 63 points on the Patriots.
Christian Pittman made the biggest impact on defense this week as Carl Junction bested Mt. Vernon. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed 1 interception.
Braxton Graham was a force in the backfield as Seneca topped Monett.
Graham provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Indians beat the Cubs.
Dustin Satterlee put up the best numbers through the air as the Bulldogs bested the Mountaineers. He finished with 11 completions for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. Satterlee's favorite target this week was Matt Magee, who caught 4 passes for 63 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Payton Rawlins and Graham, Seneca has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Rawlins is tops in the league in passing with 1,623 yards, while Graham has rushed for 1,444 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Carl Junction's Magee, with 717 yards on 44 catches.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Monett takes on Doug Buckmaster's team. As it stands, Chad Depee's team is in fourth, while the Bulldogs are in second.
Cassville made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,374 from 4,635. The improvement was largely due to a 21-0 victory over Aurora last week.
