Columbine has won four straight games at home, while Monarch has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Columbine Rebels will host the Monarch Coyotes at 1:00 p.m. Columbine is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
Last Saturday, Columbine got the win against Chatfield by a conclusive 73-53. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Columbine's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Abraham, who en route to 23 points and five boards. What's more, Abraham also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Taylor Speir was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Columbine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Monarch didn't have too much trouble with Centaurus on Friday as they won 46-30. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Warriors are ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Monarch found their leader in sophomore Sienna Williams, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 boards. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ginger Milot, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.
Monarch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. Columbine's victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Columbine lost to Monarch at home by a decisive 75-59 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 boards. Now that Columbine knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
