The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hillsborough, who defeated 88th ranked Bridgewater-Raritan, 34-27. Rob Nittolo threw for 252 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 20 yards during the win.
Fans got a thrill when Nittolo and ANDREW ZITEL connected against the Panthers. The longest such play in Mid-State 38 - Delaware this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Michael Knight threw for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 14-22 with 1 interception.
Nittolo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Raiders topped Bridgewater-Raritan. Nittolo's favorite target this week was ZITEL, who caught 5 passes for 137 yards.
Joe Maso was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 151 yards on 25 carries as Phillipsburg defeated Scott Bray's team. Teammate Anthony Guarino added to the ground attack by rushing for 113 yards.
Kevin Carty's team's Nittolo and SCOTT LEVONAITIS led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Nittolo has thrown for 642 yards this season, while LEVONAITIS, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 237 yards. Maso from the Stateliners leads the league in rushing with 507 yards.
An important game coming up in Mid-State 38 - Delaware this week will be when Hunterdon Central takes on Westfield. At the moment, the Red Devils are in second, while the Blue Devils are in third.
The Raiders scaled the state rankings by moving to 129 from 189 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Hillsborough was able to move up by topping the Panthers 34-27.
