Newman Central Catholic won the last time they faced Amboy and things went their way on Monday too. The Comets came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 9-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Gianna Vance made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Vance was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amiya Rodriguez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Claire Von Holten was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Newman Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Newman Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Amboy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newman Central Catholic will square off against Warren/Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Amboy, they will venture away from home to face off against Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
