The Granby Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Springfield Renaissance, falling 66-32. Granby was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.
Sy'Nye Baker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten steals for Springfield Renaissance. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. Zi'yan Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Granby's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Springfield Renaissance, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granby will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McCann Tech at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Springfield Renaissance will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Commerce at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
