The Lab University Prep Lab Rats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Liberty Preparatory Christian Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Lab University Prep is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Patriots in North Carolina (the Lab Rats are ranked 26th, while the Patriots are ranked 280th).
Two weeks ago, Lab University Prep took a serious blow against the Tigers, falling 62-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lab University Prep has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lab University Prep had strong showings from Makayla Minshall, who scored ten points, and Faith Bekich, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Liberty Preparatory Christian beat the Mariners 29-18 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Liberty Preparatory Christian.
Liberty Preparatory Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leia Garrett led the charge by scoring ten points along with five blocks. Garrett is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Lyla Hammack was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 14 rebounds.
Lab University Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Lab University Prep beat the Patriots 45-35 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lab University Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
