The KIPP College Prep Panthers entered their tilt with the Paul Public Charter International Pirates with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. KIPP College Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-66 win over Paul Public Charter International on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
KIPP College Prep can attribute much of their success to Dahmir Lindsey, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lindsey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Jackson, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Paul Public Charter International still got an impressive performance from Xavier Holmes, who scored 42 points. That was a full 63.6% of Paul Public Charter International's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Naeem Reid, who scored eight points.
KIPP College Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Paul Public Charter International, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
KIPP College Prep's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Friendship Tech Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Paul Public Charter International, they will head out on the road to challenge Thurgood Marshall Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thurgood Marshall Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
