Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freeman). Everything went their way against the Asotin Panthers on Tuesday as Freeman made off with a 24-3 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Scotties, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Kaylee Ripke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Isabel Silva was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Chloe Adams was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Freeman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asotin only posted an OBP of .250.
Freeman pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.7 runs over those games. As for Asotin, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
