It was a good run, but the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 52-45 to Blue Ridge. While losing is never fun, Mica Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 28th).
Several Thunderbolts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Webb, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Webb scored a full 35.6% of Mica Mountain's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Mathie, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Mica Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Blue Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Mica Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Catalina Foothills at 9:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully Catalina Foothills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Thursday. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sahuarita at 10:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023.
