The West Union Dragons lost against the Northwest Mohawks back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. West Union took a 43-29 bruising from Northwest. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Union in their matchups with Northwest: they've now lost six in a row.
Emily Stapleton and Ashlah Staten certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Stapleton scored seven points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Staten scored 12 points along with five steals.
West Union struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
West Union has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Northwest, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Union will take on North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Union will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 645th, while North Adams is ranked 133rd). As for Northwest, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Western at 6:00 p.m.
