Baseball Recap: Clear Fork Takes a Loss

Clear Fork dropped their record down to 14-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Perkins Pirates, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Colts have suffered since April 11th.

As for Perkins, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

For Perkins' part, Talon Walton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Walton has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quentin Binette, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Schweinfurth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Clear Fork had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
