TJ Ziermann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carston Wedemeyer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Sproull, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Millbrook's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Wakefield on Tuesday. Everything went the Wildcats' way against Heritage as they made off with an 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Connor Wright made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Wright was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Wright wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Smith Dickinson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Finn Clougherty, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Laney pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Millbrook, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Laney has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Millbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
