Thunderbird's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melakye Little, who rushed for 86 yards and two TDs on only six carries. Those 86 rushing yards gave Little a new career-high. Hunter Donathon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Thunderbird didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Donathon picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. Thunderbird received some extra help from Ben Paul, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Thunderbird, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zychaun Little, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Coming up, Thunderbird will face off against Moon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westview, they will challenge ALA - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
