The Raytown Bluejays will head out on the road to challenge the Grandview Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Raytown has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Grandview will arrive with four straight victories.
Raytown's 25-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ruskin last Friday.
Meanwhile, Grandview didn't have too much trouble with Central on the road on Thursday as they won 39-21. Given Grandview's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Central is ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grandview found their leader in underclassman Lariah Tucker, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tucker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sh?ryah Wright, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Raytown's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for Grandview, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Everything went Raytown's way against Grandview when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Raytown made off with a 56-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Raytown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
