Fountain-Fort Carson had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-10 to make it four. They lost 8-0 to the Vista Ridge Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Tuesday.
Fountain-Fort Carson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeancarlo Santana, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
As for Vista Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games.
On Vista Ridge's side, XyAire Borello was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Borello has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kolton Koval got the start for Vista Ridge and what a start it was: he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Koval has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Scroggs, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Giles-Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fountain-Fort Carson has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 loss against Pine Creek on the 21st. As for Vista Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-3 defeat against Doherty on the 21st.
