Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainwell). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Marine City Mariners 11-10. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak.
Sophie Munch was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Seibert, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Plainwell's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Marine City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Coming up, Plainwell will challenge Kalamazoo Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marine City, they will take on L'Anse Creuse at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
