Two dominant guards in Jesiah Hines and D'Andre Moore are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Cross Raiders will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Draughn Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Draughn likes a good challenge.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact North Cross proved on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 83-37 win over Westover Christian Academy at home. Given North Cross' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Westover Christian Academy is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Mack, who scored 30 points along with three steals. The match was Mack's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hines was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Draughn pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Freedom.
The victory got North Cross back to even at 3-3. As for Draughn, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
