After flying high against Elk Grove last Tuesday, Monterey Trail came back down to earth. The Monterey Trail Mustangs came up short against the Sheldon Huskies on Thursday, falling 20-0. Sheldon found their leader in underclassman Saniah Wiley, who threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of her passes, and also rushed for 92 yards on only seven carries. Wiley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making a tackle and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Monterey Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Sheldon, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
