The Laurel Highlands Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the University Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Laurel Highlands is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Uniontown 7-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Noah Lion was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Nick Fleszar looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sevi Vecchiolla, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cage Senchur also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Laurel Highlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, University faced Parkersburg South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 4-3. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Patriots on their field since April 16, 2021.
Brance McCune was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for University: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.
University has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Laurel Highlands, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10.
Laurel Highlands came up short against University when the teams last played back in April of 2022, falling 8-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
