Purcell Marian's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Clark Montessori Cougars 7-5. At the plate, Ward scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Raleigh scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Brady Hopkins was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Eugene Ingram, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Purcell Marian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clark Montessori only posted a batting average of .231.
The victory got Purcell Marian back to even at 1-1.
Looking ahead, Purcell Marian will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Cincinnati Christian at 5:00 p.m. The contest will give Purcell Marian their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Clark Montessori, they will head out on the road to challenge Cincinnati Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
