Given Lafayette's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Phoebus is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jarquez Garrett, who scored 26 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shamar Welsh, who scored 14 points.
Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Phoebus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
