West Platte were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Friday, as they fell 14-18 to North Platte. West Platte's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Noah Johnson, who rushed for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 14 tackles Johnson was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Penney were fully in charge, breezing past Plattsburg 42-6. The success made it back-to-back wins for Penney.
Penney's win lifted them to 4-2 while West Platte's defeat dropped them down to 1-5. In their win, Penney relied heavily on sophomore Sawyer Morrow, who rushed for 107 yards and 4 touchdowns. West Platte will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
