Baseball Recap: North Hardin Wins Going Away Against Bethlehem

North Hardin won the last time they faced Bethlehem and things went their way on Monday too. The Trojans put the hurt on the Eagles/Banshees with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Thomas Lirot and Drake Bell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Lirot pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bell struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Lirot has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lirot got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Bell went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Colin Hamilton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of North Hardin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 9-15 when he doesn't). Carson Thompson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

North Hardin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-17 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bethlehem, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Hardin will take on Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bethlehem, they will face off against Marion County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles/Banshees are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
